“If”

  • If I could live anywhere in my city, I’d live in the “Quartiere Coppedè”. It is a small neighborhood in Rome that was designed by the architect Gino Coppedè around 1915. Actually, this is not a real district since it is composed of 18 villas and 27 buildings. It is a mix of architectural styles and is reminiscent of Gaudì’s structures in Barcelona.

  • If I won a “dream holiday” in a competition, I’d go to Polynesia with my family. I’d love to visit Bora Bora for its beaches and sea and Easter Island for the enigmatic monolithic figures carved by the Rapa Nui people between the 13th and 16th centuries.

  • If I had more time, I’d learn to cook very well. I’d like to prepare cakes and pastries for my family and friends.

  1. What if…
    I won a million dollars
The first thing I do is give myself a couple of cold face-slaps!!!
That’s nice, but it is not really a tremendous windfall. Best bet is to invest it.
Put it into a bank, an annuity, somewhere you can access it or get some sort of regular payments out of it (not touching the principal)
Use the money to start your own business and then Invest in start-up
    Traveling around the World.
If I want a buy a car, get a new one, but do not get an expensive car
As it is said: ” It is better to cry inside the BMW than in a bicycle.”
    Regards

    What if…
    If I could live forever…
I’ve learned a lot of important lessons in the various phases of my life.
In this journey of life, we have to learn many things along the way, but we are not supposed to stay still. We’re supposed to keep moving. And a journey without an end is directionless. It is important to keep moving.
Passing on the knowledge through people…moving on, and being able to leave something behind. Doing great things, and then making way for other people to do other great things. That would be the essence to life. Immortality would be just too boring in comparison.

    • Thanks very much Gabriele! A nice piece. Corrections:
“not touching the capital” – this is the usual techno-financial expression. But I’ll look it up, as “principal” exists but I think it means something slightly different, as in the sum you might request for a loan.
“If I want a buy a car, get a new one, but [do] not [get] an expensive one” – “one” is the pronoun for a noun preceded by an indefinite article.

If I had more time and money, I’d like to travel around the world every month. I’d go to Africa. I‘d love to do a safari in Kenya or a holiday on the Capo Verde’s seaside. I’d go to visit the American continent with its contradictions between the north and the south. I’d like to see the Brazil’s colours but also the New York’s architecture. I’d go to visit Japan because I love its architecture, so clear and minimal. Therefore, if I had the opportunity, I’d like to satisfy my desire to know other custom and people, other architectures.

If I could live anywhere in Italy, certainly I’d live in centre of Bologna. It is a wonderful city, rich in culture and good food. If I could live anywhere in my town or city, I’d live in Rione Monti, because it is the neighborhood of art galleries and a few steps from the winery there are the magnificent basilicas of Santa Maria Maggiore and that of St. Peter in Vincoli.

  6. If I could live anywhere in my town or city, I’d live in a narrow street in Trastevere, where you can breathe the real Roman atmosphere. Unfortunately, I can’t live in Trastevere, because is too expensive for me. But, anyway, I can go there on weekends, take a walk and eat an ice-cream.

If I won a ‘dream holiday’ in a competition, I’d go in a two-month tour across Asia, from Sri Lanka to the northern China. I’d be ready to travel only with a small backpack.

If I had to go abroad to work, I’d go to USA, in particular to New York, where I’ve never been before.
